A young dragon tragically lost his mother before he even hatched, she was ruthlessly killed by some hunters who were after her teeth and claws. She fought off her attackers fiercely, but eventually succumbed to a lance through the mouth.Half a day later, her body and her single egg was found by a human child named Corrigan, who, after taking pity on the young dragon, decided to take him home and gave him the name Neifion. His arrival to her house was met with some resistance, particularly from Corrigan’s mother, but eventually, the family accepted him as a strange family pet, on the condition that Corrigan personally hunt and catch his food until he can fend for himself.The pair was almost virtually inseparable, when Neifion was still small enough, he would perch on Corrigan’s shoulder or on her head as she went about her day. When he was too big for that, he’d follow beside her like a lost puppy. He even slept at the foot of her bed every night until he was too big.Neifion grew quite a bit in the 20 years since he was found, now he was about the same size as a horse. Meanwhile, Corrigan inherits her mother’s title as the Baroness of Rosmore.Unlike her mother, however, she was quite the ambitious woman who wasn’t easily satisfied. Over the next eight years, she slowly expanded her influence to neighbouring villages. Even then, she still wasn’t satisfied, and so, in the winter of 1548, she embarked on a journey to invade the neighbouring island of Drachenfort.Thanks to a combination of her own combat prowess and Neifion at her side (along with some luck), she unified the tribes of that island and established a kingdom, putting herself as its first monarch.Neifion realised as the kingdom expanded, that he would soon be too big to even live within the castle walls, so he learned to turn himself into a human, taking a lot of influence from Corrigan herself.Knowing that dragons would live a long life, Neifion was made to be the protector and advisor of the kingdom by Corrigan, and on her deathbed, she asked him to look out for her descendants and subjects even after she was gone, to which Neifion promised.Three centuries and many generations has passed ever since, and Neifion had remained loyal to the throne, befriending some ruling families while being aloof but cordial to others—it all depended on how they treated him.

The hair clip that Neifion always wears is a gift from Corrigan.
He’s often frustrated if he finds inaccuracies in historical texts about himself, but since the books are published already, he can’t do much.
He used to keep his tail in his humanoid form, but after so many people tripped over it, he decided to not keep it anymore.
Has a really sharp sense of smell, sight and hearing.
He would get really upset if anyone insinuates that he’s eaten people.

caretaker / adoptive mother — Corrigan was a noblewoman who originated from Cartreiff, she found a newly hatched Neifion when she was a child. She took care of the young dragon and in return, Neifion remained by her side from her childhood, to her becoming Queen of Drachenfort, and finally, to her deathbed. ESME. STATUS: ALIVE
best friend — Princess Esme Victoria Frances Rhosyn is the rightful heir to the throne of Drachenfort, she and Neifion confide in each other quite often. Esme usually shows her more playful and easygoing side whenever she’s around him. CARIAD. STATUS: ALIVE
lover — Cariad is a dragon who originated from Alcon, he and Neifion have been together for almost a century, and are incredibly sweet on each other. Cariad recently took on a human form, and he's still trying to figure it all out.

Within the North Sea, there is an archipelago known as the Leissard Archipelago.Drachenfort is the second biggest island within the archipelago. The name 'Drachenfort' can refer to the island itself, or the kingdom within it.Other islands within this archipelago are Alcon (the biggest. and the only one to remain without human settlement), Nettlands, and Cartreiff (the smallest, and the oldest settlement).After the island of Alcon, Drachenfort has the most population of dragons living within it, especially in human form. Many are employed as blacksmiths or cooks because of their resistance to heat.The kingdom of Drachenfort is known for its fishing, agriculture and trade industries.
